Smoking is our national conundrum. On one hand smokers get to pay more and more in tax so contribute significantly to the Chancellors budget and yet at the same time are turned into social outcasts with increasing legislation and rules.
What's overlooked in all the coverage on teenage smokers is the simple fact
that for many smokers who are retired or approaching retirement - smoking when they were youngsters was
encouraged, fashionable and all the rage. The Governments of the time even state
sponsored smoking with 'Service Issue' cigarettes. So 'just' giving up isn't as
easy as some politicians, doctors and journalists make out.
